Season’s Changing…

Winter CAN be beautiful!

Winter CAN be beautiful!

I’m seasonally dysfunctional.  My likes and dislikes are trading places and I’m not sure what to do!  lol!  Summer was my favorite season in Upstate NY.  Now I live in Nebraska (have for almost five years) and the seasons are different here.  Winter brings lots of cold wind and very little snow.  I don’t like winter, but try to make the best of it.   We take the kids sledding at Brickyard Park and keep the house warm all winter by baking up special “comfort foods” and hot cocoa. Photos like this one on the right make winter a tad more bearable.  :)

Summer is too hot for too long.  I swore I would never complain about the heat after living in the cold for most of my life.  I should never swear anyway.

Autumn is here!  I was missing the bright, bold, colorful fall foliage of my rural upbringing last week…when I made a startling discovery.  I was driving around town (my camera goes EVERYWHERE with me) and I happened upon a tree that was glowing!  It looked like it was on fire!  It took my breath away!  It reminded me of hot embers in a fireplace.

This photo doesn't do justice...you had to be there.

Glowing autumn!

So I thought ‘Oh!  The trees DO turn here (although not as many of them), let’s go find some more’!  I took some pics and now I’m content again.  Let’s not forget the apples and pumpkin pie.  Fall is “cozy”.  :)

Spring is a BIG DEAL at our house.  Hubby is a storm chaser.  By day, he’s Mr. Professional Executive type, but whenever he can, he’s out looking for tornadoes!  “Twister Week” on The Weather Channel has always been a MUST at our house.  When we moved here it was March.  We had a tiny tv that traveled in the van with us from NY.  We got our dish hooked up as soon as we got here and watched all the latest weather stories.

Spring!

Spring!

This spring, Pete will be on an episode of Storm Stories!  Talk about a dream come true!  :D

I do love spring!  Everything is waking up again after a long winter’s nap.  I get to plant things in my garden and the birds are putting on their best shows for mating season.  Spring definitely feeds my photography interest…obsession?  lol!

OK…so, I’ve learned to live with the seasons…no matter where I am; even though my favorites have flip-flopped.  Now autumn and spring are my favorites and winter and summer (the extremes) hold a close second place.

Summer!

Summer!
